SOUND ASPECTS OF MATERIAL ELEMENTS illustrates a specific approach to the artistic use of sound. Covering a 3-year period, the film documents the uses of sound as a medium for interaction and activation of the landscape.
With its minimal editing style and durational shots, SOUND ASPECTS OF MATERIAL ELEMENTS shifts our attention toward an extended view of time and place. The ever-changing micro-processes hint at the eternal growth and decay inherent in the cycles of nature itself. The possibility of intercepting, capturing, shaping, disrupting and recombining the elements through creative experiments is what this film attempts to document, hoping to inspire the viewer to find their own path.

New Maps of Time: Workshop and Performance
April 18-22, 2010 @ 3-6 PM (FREE Workshop)
‘New Maps of Time’ is a project and workshop about mapping spaces (architectural and natural) by using sound as a means to express actions within a space. The project involves spending a few days in and around the city, mapping various industrial spaces through sound by using simple objects (glass jars, plates, wires, found objects etc…). Working together, participants will explore the balance between gestures and movements to create sounds and way we communicate through sounds. A selection of the recordings will be made and edited for potential use in a final performance lecture on April 22nd.
